How it works?

Use your eligible mobility allowance to lease a new car, Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV), scooter or powered wheelchair. The scheme also offers a range of adaptations to make driving, getting in and out of your vehicle, and storing mobility equipment easier.

Who can join the Scheme?
You can join as long as you receive a qualifying mobility allowance with at least 12 months left and have a valid UK driving licence. This can be yours or a nominated driver. You can check right now. Just answer a few questions. Find out if you're eligible

What's Included?

A brand new vehicle - Whether you choose a car, Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV), scooter or powered wheelchair, it’ll arrive new for you to drive or ride in, and adapted, if you need it.
Insurance cover - We’ll arrange your insurance. You can add up to three drivers.
Breakdown cover - We’ll give you breakdown cover so you can travel with peace of mind.

You can start applying online if it’s a car or a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle. Once you’ve had a test drive and you’ve found a vehicle you like, visit a Motability Scheme dealer and they’ll order it for you.

Collect your car from your dealer. If it’s a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle, scooter, or powered wheelchair they’ll deliver it to your home. Then start enjoying your vehicle.

No, you're not able to buy the Motability Scheme vehicle at the end of your lease.

For orders placed before 1 July 2026, you can drive up to 60,000 miles over a three-year lease and 100,000 miles over a five-year lease. For orders placed on or after 1 July 2026, you can drive up to 30,000 miles over three years, or 50,000 miles over five years for Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles. If you get your allowance from Social Security Scotland, the new mileage allowance applies to orders placed on or after 1 September 2026. If you ordered before this date, you'll keep the mileage allowance that applied when you ordered.

Our first introduction is usually to the manufacturer lender linked to the vehicle franchise, as they may offer the most suitable package available, although this is not guaranteed. If finance is unavailable, we may introduce you to another lender on our panel.
Manufacturer lenders and other finance providers may also support us through vehicle stock funding, training, or marketing contributions. These arrangements do not affect the amount you pay under your finance agreement.
Finance is subject to status and terms and conditions. Applicants must be UK residents aged 18 or over. Guarantees may be required.
